In a significant breakthrough, the Bidhannagar Cybercrime Police have successfully apprehended Partha Pratim Nath from New Barrackpore in connection with a fraudulent case on popular matrimonial website Shaadi.com. The accused is alleged to have posed as a doctor and deceived a girl residing in Baguiati, extracting a substantial sum of money from her.
According to police sources, the victim had uploaded her marriage profile on Shaadi.com in September 2022. It was through this platform that she came into contact with Partha Pratim Nath, who claimed to be a doctor. Over time, they developed a relationship and frequently communicated over the phone.
However, their association took a drastic turn when the accused requested Rs 1.15 lakh from the girl, citing her father's unfortunate accident. Falling for his convincing narrative, the girl transferred the money to his bank account. To her dismay, after receiving the funds, Nath abruptly severed all communication with her, leaving her shattered and realizing that she had fallen victim to a cunning fraudster.
Determined to seek justice, the girl promptly lodged a written complaint with the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station, detailing the entire incident. The police initiated a thorough investigation, scrutinizing the accused's mobile phone records. Shockingly, they discovered that Nath had a history of engaging in multiple marriages. Furthermore, his mobile phone contacts revealed a significant number of unmarried girls, raising suspicions about his involvement in similar fraudulent activities.
